Crime Scene Recreation

One of the more advanced tasks that the forensic video and audio enhancement experts at AVF performs is Crime Scene Recreation, also known as crime scene reconstruction. By utilizing top-of-the-line digital software and equipment, AV Forensic is able to mathematically calculate individual’s positions and dimensions within the crime scene, and in some cases, create detailed 3D digital models.  Part of this process involves taking on-site photographs and then matching them with the video surveillance recording.

Another aspect of recreating a crime scene is combining, or synching, multiple surveillance videos. Often a business will have a multi-cam security system that catches a crime happening from different angles. Just like watching a football highlight, these angles, at first, can seem inconsistent with each other. So we take these videos that convey various different dimensions, or angles, and pull single facts from them (rather than broad assumptions). Ultimately, we can create an estimation of an individual’s physical dimensions and their position in the environment, which often proves crucial in understanding how a crime or incident played-out.
