Gun Shot Detection Systems

An interesting technological advancements in law enforcement surveillance is the Gunshot Detection System. These state-of-the-art surveillance devices are able to effectively capture and document the exact time of a shooting, the number of shots fired and the location of the incident.

This detection system is helpful in a number of ways. For one, it allows police officers to respond to a shooting-incident much faster than if someone were to call 911, because it gives the police an exact location, therefore there is no confusion as to where the shooting occurred (as can sometimes be the case when someone calls 911).

The Gunshot Detection System also helps law enforcement investigators determine exactly how many shots occurred and the amount of time elapsed between shots. This is crucial because the time between shots can sometimes mean the difference between someone reacting in self defense, with quick consecutive gunshots, and someone having time to think about or plan the shots they are taking, an issue that often comes up in court cases involving police gunfire.

Gunshot detection systems have come a long way in a short time, and should only continue to improve.
